Reflection On John 8: 21-30

Nothing can stop a person who knows what he / she wants to do in life. If you are convinced of your mission, you will find ways and means to accomplish it. Jesus knew very well that He is in His Father’s ambassador. This conviction gave more clarity to His words and authenticity to His deeds. The arrogance of the people who kept on questioning about His identity did not disturb Him. He never bothered to convince them of the righteousness of His actions either. His faith in the Father gave Him the strength to go forward with confidence.
Jesus told people they die in their sins unless they believed that He was God. Like the Israelites who were bitten by the serpents, humanity is sentenced to death and damnation unless it looks with faith on Jesus. People desperately need to know and love Jesus. Although the greatest need of every person is to believe in Jesus and although He commanded as to be His witnesses, many Christians don’t share their faith in Jesus with others. The purpose of Lent is the imitation of Jesus. He was led by the Spirit into the desert to fast for forty days. When Jesus emerged from that desert, He “returned in the power of the Spirit of Galilee”, where He proclaimed the good news of redemption. During this lent we must learn to lift up Jesus in our life. When the Son of Man is lifted up, Jesus will draw all people to Himself so that they may realize that He is God. Therefore we must lift up Jesus in our life. Lifting up Jesus unleashes a life- changing, parish –changing and world –changing sequence of events.
How can Jesus be lifted up?
On His cross.. Display crucifix everywhere at home, vehicles, schools and other places necessary. In the elevation of the Eucharist at Mass or as often as possible. As He is exposed in the Monstrance at Eucharistic adoration, adore the Eucharistic Jesus whenever possible. Work to promote Eucharistic adoration whenever you can.
